David Lim with Ferruccio Lamborghini during a business lunch session
Special Guest: Ferruccio Lamborghini, 3rd generation of the Lamborghini family
David Lim, Founder & CEO of WISE AI, discussed with Ferruccio Lamborghini the positive impacts of artificial intelligence (AI) and e-Mobility on our everyday lives. They discussed how artificial intelligence could have a large transformative effect on our technologies, including electric vehicles (EV), where AI is widely used in its system. Many believe that personal electric vehicles are the future. There are multiple ways in which AI and Computer Vision are being implemented in EVs and how they operate on the road safely. Ferruccio is also set to launch a premium EV bike in Asia in the near future.
Following that, transport Minister, Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong, met up with Ferruccio and is ready to cooperate with the EV industry through manufacturing, assembly as well as research and development.
Dr Wee welcomes high-value investments from abroad into Malaysia as a vital platform to bring EV manufacturing into the ASEAN market, which will cause an influx of new job opportunities in the Malaysian market.

‘We had a good discussion on the future of electric vehicles in Malaysia from several important standpoints, mulling over Malaysians’ acceptance of using EVs, the government’s support of the industry, and potential investments and market prospects for EVs here’ – Dr Wee (Source)
Computer Vision in Autonomous Electric Vehicles
Autonomous electric vehicles are starting to become a real possibility in some industry parts. Agriculture, transportation and the military are some of the examples. The day when we will see autonomous vehicles in everyday life for the regular consumer is quickly approaching.
Machines can visualise different scenarios through computer vision technology that helps computer systems locate and identify images and videos, thereby providing meaningful information from the real world.
“Once you trust a self-driving car with your life, you will trust Artificial Intelligence with anything.” – Dave Waters.
Artificial intelligence offers some substantial positive impacts of AI in the autonomous industry. Below listed are some of the significant benefits of using AI in the industry:
The main objective of computer vision is to ensure the safety of its passengers and to deliver a smooth self-driving experience.
The technology hasn’t been perfected yet as a few limitations need to be fixed.
Our society will gain countless hours of productivity with just the introduction of autonomous electric transportation and AI influencing our traffic congestion issues, not to mention the other ways it will improve on-the-job productivity.
Freed from stressful commutes, humans will be able to spend their time in different ways.
“Self-driving cars will enable car-sharing even in spread-out suburbs. A car will come to you just when you need it. And when you are done with it, the car will just drive away, so you won’t even have to look for parking.” – Sebastian Thrun
At a time when consumers buy their groceries, food, electronics, and fashion online, automotive companies worldwide have slowly been inching closer to giving customers a truly differentiated vehicle purchase model online.
e-KYC and Facial Recognition in Automotive Online Purchasing
As usual, purchasing a vehicle requires the buyer to provide their driver’s licence to verify their identity and pass the car ownership requirement. However, how would customers do this if the transaction is done online?
Now, this is where e-KYC comes into the picture.
e-KYC is a procedure to identify and verify a customer’s identity digitally or online. The process consists of a series of checks implemented in the first stage of the relationship with the customer to verify that they are who they say they are. The customer’s identity documents and their personification are also taken into account.
In order to purchase a car online, similar to what Tesla has done, customers will be able to do so with e-KYC by scanning their identification card and driver’s licence on the website or mobile application of the preferred automotive company.
Upon doing that, Facial Recognition and Liveness detection will play a part in determining if the users are actually what they say there are or not. By using a face-based verification solution the process can be shortened by up to 95%.
The identification and verification of the identity of customers occur immediately, helping businesses to increase their conversion rate. Specialised businesses such as WISE AI have appeared in order to achieve this task, using cutting-edge technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning to transform and optimise processes.
